Edit:
Unfortunately due to our sleep-deprived state at the time of initial release, we did not realize we had display errors with the environment. While we don't expect the fixed version to be judged since it was made after the jam deadline, for those who want to play a non-bugged version of the game you can do so on GitHub here!

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarise your game!
Bounded Blade is a 2D combat platformer where you play as a living weapon. You must run, jump, and fight your way through four levels to freedom. Learn new mechanics and ways of moving as you follow a mysterious voice guiding you towards freedom from your human oppressors, learning what it means to be a Weapon to None.

Controls:
- Mouse to click menu buttons
- Arrow key to move left and right
- Space to jump
- "Z" to dash
- "C" to attack
- "X" to blink. Hold X to start a blink, hold down the arrow keys in the direction you want to throw the sword, then release X while still holding the arrow keys.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
In Bound Blade, you play as a nameless sword given form that must escape your human captors. You must jump, dash, and even teleport your way through the castle towards freedom with the special abilities granted to those of your kind. Along the way you must wonder what it means to be a weapon. Do you really have choice like this mysterious voice says you do? Or are you bound to a fate of violence that was bestowed upon you at birth?

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
The game should be a fairly straightforward platformer. The most notable spots that might cause you to get stuck are:

  • The very end of level 3 requires you to do a difficult maneuver: a long jump followed by a dash followed by a blink to the platform directly above you. A window has been placed to provide a guide; if you line up with the center of the window, it should help you make the jump.
  • There is a very rare bug where you will clip into the floor during a blink. Most of the time you can simply blink out again.

This looks like a great game, but unfortunately the platforms did not load for me. However, I just chose to interpret this as “hard mode” which I successfully navigated until I got to the teleporting section which I think I messed up by teleporting into a wall

Overall I am content with it

Oh no! We didn't realize when we published it that the environment was bugged out like that. We rolled out a fixed version of the game on our GitHub page if you'd like to try it not on hard mode: https://bonebot.github.io/Project-WenCo/

Thanks for giving our game a look and for the feedback!
